Yesterday was the kids' football Jamboree, where nearby cities who play against each other gather for a few rounds of scrimmage games before the real season begins. Alex's cheer squad did not have their uniforms in on time, so they did not end up participating, but the football players got their fair share of workouts!
As an aside, the past few days have been "hot" (for our area, at least), and I prepared us all for a day in the sun for hours - tank tops, flip flops, sun block, and lots of water. Wouldn't you know, it was overcast, windy, and freezing!! Thank goodness for my mommy-instincts and I brought warmer clothes and jackets just in case - what a miserable day to be sitting outside for so long! At least it wasn't wet - a first for Washington :P
I'm just eating up all this daddy-son bonding time, I had to snag a few pictures of Lance getting Jr all dressed up!
I know I may be a bit biased, but isn't he so dang handsome?! He's going to make some woman terribly happy one day :)
And let me tell you, the "lucky woman" will absolutely have her hands full with this goober!
Alex and her best friend did end up coming along despite the lack of cheering, but the girls had a blast finding ways to entertain themselves for the six hours we were there. Lord only knows what they must have been up to.
All I know is that there were tons of cute boys there their age wearing tight football pants...
and endless free cupcakes!
Before any of the Cougar's scrimmages started, they posed for a quick impromptu group photo (even though you can't even see Lance here, he's completely hidden)
His football team is much more serious than the past few little flag teams he's been on, and I think he might feel a teensy overwhelmed trying to understand all the tactics and rules he's supposed to abide by. Regardless of what may think, he's been phenomenal at keeping his spirits high and being really excited about playing. Needless to say, he's learning tons!
Next week will be their first game, and I can't wait to see them finally show everyone how hard they've been working so far this season!
