Apple Dumplings

Not long ago I realized how many pins on Pinterest I have, and the lack of me utilizing those amazing pins.  To resolve my unforgivable dilemma, I've really been scouring my recipe pins and trying out a bunch of great looking meals and treats, including this yummy one!

I can't help but laugh at the above picture, I swear it looks like a pan of amazing baked chicken thighs or something, but I promise it isn't.  Instead, its a delicious concoction of refrigerated crescent dough, apples, and Mt. Dew - woohoo!

The above picture is a better representation of what you'll be making (photos aren't my forte).  This dish is easy enough to let the kids take the reigns on the prep work (maybe not the apple cutting if they are too young), and the way it makes your house smell is reason alone to make this.

Apple Dumplings

2 sticks butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 tubes crescent rolls
2 Granny Smith apples
12 ounces Mt. Dew
cinnamon
vanilla ice cream

1.  Peel and slice your apples.  Wrap each slice in a crescent dough triangle and place in a sprayed (greased) pan.

2.  In a bowl, melt your butter and stir in sugar and vanilla.  Pour over top of the wrapped apples, or spread on top with a spoon.  Pour the Mt. Dew all around and sprinkle with cinnamon.

3.  Place in a 350˚ oven for 30 to 40 minutes.  Serve hot with ice cream!
