Remember how last month I put up a collection of April pictures of the kids throughout the years? I really enjoyed doing that, and I thought perhaps I should continue on with it!

Without further ado, here is a snippet of my life with the kids over the past twelve Mays!

I've got two of these today!!

Yesterday Lance made the kids clean up our "Room of Requirement," which is our gym, laundry room, pantry, craft room, ferret room, and many other things.  While straightening up, Alex found a stack of papers I needed to file away in our fireproof safe, and she saw that they were all hers.  She also noticed this:


My name was misspelled on her birth certificate!! After eleven years, I've never noticed this, how funny is that?

Anyways, as I'm laughing hysterically over this error, I teased Alex and said loudly "Well, I guess this proves that I'm not your mother after all!"

I thought she went back to the Room of Requirement to finish up her task, but about 20 minutes later I heard loud, deep sobs coming from upstairs, and I thought she got in trouble from Daddy about her chores.  I went up to her room to play good cop, and it took her a few minutes to tell me what was wrong.

She said "That paper shows that you aren't my mommy!"

I didn't realize she took me seriously!! It took a while to calm her down and assure her that yes, I made her and I'm her mommy, and that was inconsiderate  of me to tease about her birth certificate.  She now believes that me when I tell her it was a silly typo, and nothing could come between this mommy and daughter :)

Last night we went to Johnny Carino's for dinner to celebrate Lance's promotion, and the restaurant is about 45 minutes away.  On the way there and back is an Indian casino, and we generally stop there to get gas since its usually about 20¢ cheaper than anywhere else.

Anywho, Lance Jr was asking why there are signs all over the place saying "entering" or "leaving" so-and-so "reservation."  I explained to him that a reservation is a section of land that belongs to a specific Indian tribe, and that a lot of the tribesmen live and work there.

Lance got the most confused look on his face, and said "But I thought they were all extinct?"

As funny as that sentiment wasn't, we couldn't help but laugh at his thought-provoking misunderstanding.

We assured them while their heritage and way of living may have been involuntarily become extinct, Native Americans are most definitely still around :)

This weekend Lance Jr was selected to participate in the first annual Robotics Camp held at the high school here!  When the permission slips came home about a month ago, he was so overcome with excitement that we almost had to ban the topic at home - its all he could think about!

Lance was gone nearly the entire weekend! Friday evening, Saturday until 6, and Sunday until 4! I'm not used to my baby being gone all day, so I really missed him!

The camp was held in the electronics classroom of the high school, where they used Lego Mindstorm kits to learn how basic robotic and electronic components work.  They had to form groups (Lance's team was called the "Legendary Burritos") and had the of designing a robot that would eventually compete against other teams in a series of obstacles and battles.  How awesome is that?!

On Sunday, families were able to come and watch the teams compete in some crazy game called Truffle Shuffle that was so complicated that creating a robot out of marshmallows seemed like an easier undertaking.  However the kids (mostly boys...) knew what they were doing and we were able to watch Lance take his turn being the driver!
