Mt. Trashmore

7:08 AM

What an interesting day! It was definitely one filled with ups and downs.  We spent the bulk of the afternoon taking a long stroll at Mt. Trashmore, which is a landfill-turned-public park (recycling at its best!), and then the kids played at the brand new playground there.  The weather was amazing today, albeit windy, but we just enjoyed every bit of it.  Great day so far!

On our way to grab dinner, however, my newly reacquired Durango had the "check gauges" light flash while I was on the interstate, and I noticed that my truck was overheating!! I panicked, wondering whether I should pull over or try to rush over to my mom's house, which was pretty close by.  I chanced driving home, and I think it was just in time because my truck was smoking!  I don't know a single thing about cars, and my stepdad said it looked like radiator fluid had exploded all over the place, so either a hose busted (fingers crossed!) or something worse. We waited for the truck to cool down a bit, then rushed it over to the auto shop, where only a few days prior, I already plucked down a pretty penny on repairs and four new tires.  *Sigh*  I guess I'll find out in the morning what fate my poor credit card beholds.

My night ended fabulously though! The worries over the truck are long out of my mind, but for what reason, I shall not tell! Its a little secret I'll share when the time comes!

Here are a few pics of our day at Mt. Trashmore.  Enjoy!

Did I mention it was windy?

Probably the coolest kite I've ever seen!  This park is a really popular place to take kites.

A view of the new "downtown" area being built up in Virginia Beach.

  1. Wow that place has really grown since I've lived there!

  2. Its changed quite a bit since I've been here, and I was only away for four years! They are really trying to revamp the area and make it more upscale-touristy, I suppose. Same with the Norfolk area (and I'm sure you remember how it wasn't always the best there)
