Crock Pot Chicken Wings

4:40 AM

Its Pizza Night again! The hubby isn't too fond of pizza, and somehow I was able to overlook that flaw and still bear his children. Seriously, who doesn't like pizza? The man eats squirrels for crying out loud, but not pizza?! Yes, our marriage does have some issues that we are working through, but I think we can make it. He did try my yummy-yummy white pizza that the kiddos and I love so much, and he said it was "alright." But this is coming from a squirrel eater, so I had to just let that one slide.

Since I knew he probably wouldn't be too excited about our "Pizza Night" we created over the summer, I figured wings would be a great thing to make and start experimenting with each weekend. At least he eats wings - I doubt there would have been a second date if he didn't. We spent many-a-nights at an amazing pizza-and-wings joint while dating and before we moved to Asia (I still love saying that - it makes me feel exotic, haha!). Boy, what I would do for some Calz wings right now!

Tonight's wings were very easy. We had a busy day today and the crock pot wings definitely sparked my interest - it kept me from spending too much time in the kitchen. I found this recipe on and its simplicity called out to me. The finished wings were ok - nothing spectacular or worth doing back flips for, but they weren't too bad either. Considering most of the ingredients will probably always be on hand, and the fact that it is a crock pot meal, this might be a good recipe to hang on to if you are scrambling for a meal idea and have an empty pantry, but happen to have wings (or maybe even chicken legs) on hand in the freezer. It had the expected salty soy-sauce flavor to it, which I don't mind - I'm an admitted saltaholic - but there wasn't much more depth to the flavor other than that. Overall, its not something I will make again because I loved how it tasted, but it will definitely stay in my collection just in case I need a meal that will save the day and save me a trip from the commissary.
